A tap that keeps dripping, a toilet that keeps refilling, or a mixer that no longer gives hot water. That is rarely an emergency, but a toilet that runs quietly wastes a few hundred litres a day, and you only see it on the annual bill.
We replace taps, cistern mechanisms, traps and toilets, and connect washing machines and dishwashers. Common parts are in the van, so in most cases it is done in one visit.
Not an emergency, but you have a question?
Send a photo of the connection or the meter cupboard and we know which part to bring. Or leave your details in the form at the bottom of this page.
Dripping or squealing tap
On a traditional tap it is the washer, on a single lever mixer the ceramic cartridge. Both can be replaced without replacing the tap, as long as the make still supplies parts. With hard water it is usually limescale on the seat rather than the tap itself.
Running toilet
A toilet that keeps trickling after a flush is normally losing water at the float valve or at the flush valve in the cistern. With a concealed cistern the mechanism is reachable through the flush plate, so no tiling has to come off.
Replacing and connecting
A new tap, a new toilet, moving a basin or connecting a washing machine with a non-return valve. This is planned work, so we plan it: you get a half day slot and a price indication in advance instead of an emergency visit.
Questions about taps and bathrooms
Do I have to buy the tap myself?
You may. If you have already bought one, we fit it. If not, we bring a common model; you hear the make and the amount before anything is ordered.
What does a running toilet cost in water?
A cistern that trickles quietly can lose a few hundred litres a day. Over a year that is an amount the repair stays well below. The quickest check is to watch the water meter when nobody is using water.
Can a basin or toilet be moved?
Often yes, but it depends on the fall the waste pipe needs and on the height of the existing pipe. In a house with pipes cast into the floor that is a judgement to make on site. You get the options and the costs before anything comes loose.
Do you connect washing machines and dishwashers?
Yes, including a non-return valve where one is missing. That last part is not a luxury: without it, waste water can run back into the machine when there is a blockage further down the line.
Where we come out for this
Replacing taps and bathroom fittings in Aalsmeer, Kudelstaart, Rijsenhout and Aalsmeerderbrug. The post-war housing stock in Aalsmeer holds a lot of sanitaryware from before the turn of the century, with connection sizes that are no longer standard. That is not a problem, but it is worth knowing beforehand, because then the right adaptors come along.
For work that can wait you do not have to pay the evening or weekend rate. Book it during the day on a weekday and the day rate on the rates page applies.
