What you can do right now
Three things that limit the damage until somebody is there. Do them in this order.
Close the main stopcock
It sits next to the water meter, in the narrow built-in cupboard Dutch houses have for the meters (meterkast). In the post-war terraces in Aalsmeer and Kudelstaart that cupboard is usually beside the front door; in the older dyke houses along the ring canal it sits more often in the crawl space under the ground floor (kruipruimte), under a hatch in the hallway. Turn the valve clockwise until it stops.
Switch the boiler off at its own button
Do not pull the plug and do not close the gas valve. With a leak on the heating system this stops the circulation without putting the boiler into lockout and without losing its settings. Write down the fault code on the display; that saves a question on the phone.
Catch the water and take a photo
A bucket underneath and a towel around it. Then photograph the connection, the meter cupboard or the boiler display and send it on WhatsApp. With that photo we know which part to load in the van, and that often saves a second visit.

- Amounts include Dutch value added tax (btw). The call-out charge is counted once, also when the work runs over.
- The first hour is charged in full, after that per quarter of an hour.
- Materials are listed separately on the invoice, with a description. Never as one lump sum.
- If it turns out on site that the fault is more work than estimated on the phone, you hear the amount before any further work is done.
- If the fault cannot be put right, you pay the call-out charge and the time worked, and nothing else.

What does the call-out cost in Aalsmeer?
On weekdays between 07:00 and 18:00 the call-out charge is 45 euro including Dutch VAT (btw). In the evening and at weekends it is 65 euro. It is counted once, also when the work runs over.
How quickly can you be here?
In Aalsmeer usually within 30 to 60 minutes, in Kudelstaart and Rijsenhout 35 to 65 minutes and in Aalsmeerderbrug 40 to 70 minutes. When it is busy it takes longer, and then you hear a time on the phone that is accurate rather than a time that sounds good.
Are you reachable at night as well?
No. The phone is on from 07:00 to 22:00, seven days a week. Outside those hours you can leave a message with a photo on WhatsApp and you get an answer from 07:00. We would rather not promise a night service than have you listen to a phone ringing at 03:00 that nobody answers.
What if the fault cannot be put right?
Then you pay the call-out charge and the time worked, and nothing else. You hear what is needed instead and roughly what that costs, so you can decide for yourself.
Do you charge extra for materials?
Materials are listed separately on the invoice with a description, never as one lump sum. Common parts such as traps, taps, float valves and rodding equipment are in the van.
